The government of India has issued a new notice related to PAN cardholders. As per the new guidelines, PAN cards which are not linked with Aadhar will be declared null and void and become inoperative post March 31, 2021.

The income tax department has made it mandatory for citizens to link their PAN card with Aadhaar before the deadline ends.

As per the guidelines, citizens failing to do so will have to face the legal consequences such as a penalty of Rs 10,000 under Section 272B of Income Tax Act.

Also, presenting an inoperative PAN card could also result in a penalty of Rs 10,000 post deadline. Do keep in mind that PAN card is mandatory for getting a new bank account or depositing/withdrawing a sum above Rs 50,000.

How to link PAN card with Aadhar

To link your PAN with Aadaar, visit https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home. Them head to the option Link Aadhaar on the left side of the webpage. From there, enter necessary details like PAN number, Aadhaar number and name as per the Aadhaar card.

Then check the option ‘I have the only year of birth in the Aadhar card,’ if you have only the birth year on the Aadhaar. Also, check ‘I agree to validate my Aadhar details with UIDAI.

Enter the captcha code and click the Link Aadhaar button to submit the request form.
